Furniture in The Bathroom

My husband is really very kind. He allows my furniture in the bathroom. Now you may be thinking ...how strange. I know some great re purposed dressers are being used as vanities with the sink inserted in them . I love that look. I tried for that in this bathoom but, my husband stopped me at "but...JIM". This room is fairly big due to the plumbing work having to stay on one side, keeping it all together to save money. When Jim and I got married in 2006 we needed to add a second bathroom to our home to accommodate the 6 of us. At the time we married my children were 21 & 19 and Jim's children were 17 & 15. My children really weren't home because they lived away at school. But, the second bathroom was needed just the same. We had the bathroom built downstairs because it was a wide open space. Well, as it started to unfold down there I had big ideas. I knew it was going to need filling and I had all the right stuff.
Here's my Pink Saturday vintage wash stand. I love it all chippy & distressed. I think this makes the third piece of furniture in the room plus a beautiful built-in. I don't think Jim has the same feelings towards this shabby'tique decor as I do. Poor guy he only gets to keep his car magazines in there. He keeps saying something about this room having more furniture in it then his old aprtment. I hope you enjoyed today's visit.

A Shining Treasure

Do I call myself a pirate when I capture the loot? That's how I feel after I've spent the day treasure hunting. Mirror, mirror on the wall, your weren't the fairest mirror of all (hehee) so someone give it up for another to love. That's me.! Gold resin really wasn't the look I was going for. I figured out it's new LOOK rather quickly. I have a favorite white I use on all my redesigns. It got a few coats of Country White (wal-mart's own brand) then for the aged, patina look I used craft paint. An umber color. Only rubbing here and there then taking the paint off quickly before it dried. It's in the hallway just before my bedroom, I think it's a good place to hang this once not so fair mirror that's now my treasure. For more great treasures be sure to stop over at Diane'sA Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words. Thank you for your visit today.(a side note: I think I learned how to make the hyperlinks it looks "cleaner" around here without the copy/past techique I was using).

Blue Weimaraner

My mother in law has this amazing dog Molly, a beautiful Weimaraner. When I met this dog I fell for her in a second. She is "blue" in color with blue eyes. Molly visits us from time to time and has spent a few days with us when my mother-in-law has gone out of town. This breed is so pretty the "blue" colored coat and the blue eyes are my favrite. So, today on blue monday I have found the sweetest puppies on http://www.dailypuppy.com/ and fell for these two puppies. Bonnie Blue & Butler. I'm not sure which is which but they are both just soooo darn cute. We've been thinking about getting a pup so Jim, if you read this what do you think? is it time for the puppy? For more blueness stop over and pay Sallly a visit http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ and see all the other great blue bloggers.

Empty Nest & Collecting

It's Saturday time for some PINK. Today I have this lovely pair of Fenton birds. I'm not to sure of the type of glass used to make them. I think is an opal. This picture dosen't capture how pretty the glass is. I found them sitting on a shelf at a local antique shop last year. I thought they were very sweet. It seems I'm collecting and grouping more of the same items as I get older. I wonder why I'm doing this? Is it "empty nest" syndrome? No, can't be that the children seem to find their way back to the nest. I know all this collecting and gathering means there will be a lot of packing when we move. For now I will grow my little collections help the children that come back home to nest. I know I will be thankful for both. For more PINK please be sure to pay a visit to Beverly @ http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/.
Have a great day

Thrifty Finds

Welcome. Today I will share with you one of my true loves. This painted side board. About 3 years ago I picked this up at a thrift shop. I paid about $50.00 for it. I had seen this art design and color combination once before and just loved it. I had a friend do the art work (I thought the art was a little to detailed for my painting skills, so I turned it over to a more experience person). My friend worked on it for about two weeks. When she finished she wasn't sure if I was going to like it. Well, she was wrong! I love it. It's in my "parlor". It has a dual purpose, all the storage space and a pretty piece of art. I'm not one to do the be fores & afters of my TRASHformations, I'm sorry I don't. I'm trying to get better at that. I think I don't do it because I'm excited to get the project going so the end result can be get redesigns such as this. Please be sure to visit Diane @http://diane1876.blogspot.com/ for some more great finds.

Romantic Blues

Today my "BLUES" come from pictures I found on the net. Keeping with a "romantic theme" that seems to be following me from this past weekend. This candle holder, antique/vintage glass came up on my search. I would love this in my soon to be BLUE bedroom (well, I guess the new bedroom really needs to be built first) hehee but, when it is built I would love to have this in my room.

I thought this wine set was so very shabby'tique. Since I live on the Jersey Shore, the shade of this aqua/blue jumped out at me like the color of water, I just thought it looked "BEACHY". A few blues if you would like more please stop by Sally@http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ for more of the BLUES.

Treasures that Inspire

I've only been blogging for a little over a month. My intentions are to meet people from all over and empower myself with technology. I hope to use my blog for personal use as well as promoting the start of my on line business. It seems to be working in both instances. I sold my sweet valentine tussie mussie over the weekend...and it's going to a customer on the west coast. I'm very pleased. I've also had a little make over on my blog. I love how it turned out. Karen @http://www.backgroundfairy.com/ did an amazing job. Thanks again Karen.

It's Trash to Treasure Tuesday and today I have this old window that a very talented friend of mine painted. We once rented space in the same shop. When I saw this window in her booth it was really calling my name. It became the inspiration in my...get this, bathroom. Yup, my husband says "we have more furniture in this bathroom then I had in my apartment". (the other pieces of furniture I'll save for another post). Poor guy, I push all this fluff & frou frou at him. He's really a great man. Thanks JIM! Well, my friend Nancy has since moved on. Her real love is her awesome prim/folk dolls, stop by and visit her she would love the company.http://ntdolls.blogspot.com/. Please make sure to visit Diane @ http://diane1876.blogspot.com/ for more trash to treasure tuesday.

Have a great day

NOTE*** I forgot that Diane would not be availabel today for Trash to Treasure Tuesday. Sorry. See you next Tuesday.

Blue Monday with thoughts of the Beach

Stop by Sally @ http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ pay her a visit. She does a very nice job on Blue Monday. I think I've had just about enough of winter. How about everybody else? Are you dreaming of the warm sun on the sand? Here's a little visual. I call these vintage gals "Beach Ladies". I designed 8 others in different colors. I used ribbon, beads, vintage appliques & buttons along with the vintage graphics. The other ladies can be seen on my Etsy Cottage Style page. I have a button on my side bar if you feel like stopping by ECS. Thanks. May you have a blessed week and thank you for your visit.

Got PINK...it's the right choice

Joining Pink Saturday was the right choice. If it were oh, lets say RED Saturday I don't think I would have much to post. But PINK, I am well stocked. Although my family "sees" red sometimes. I push the PINK. Beverly @http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ puts this all together. Stop by and pay her a visit. Today I have a few of my vintage figurines. The one in the middle was a lamp. I took it apart and thought I would rewire it but, I like it as it is. It's sort of a vase now. When I go thrifting/yard sale/treasure hunting it seems I find these even when I'm not really looking. I guess that's how the collection began. It's funny, these figurines where made WWII era they WERE the decor of the times. 60 -65 years later they still hold their own in decor. Well, it's been a long cold winter here in Jersey I'm ready to hit the flea markets. I still have a kitchen, bathroom & a bedroom on the list for redos come spring, more PINK...yes and I'm going to introduce the family to BLUE, AQUA and more PRETTY colors oh I just can't wait. Have a great week. Thank you for stopping .

Trash to Treasure...Cottage Chair

5 years ago I realized I needed a career change. I down sized my life as best as I could. I started a business redesigning, repurposing vintage, antiques and flea market treasures. Then Salvaged Sensations was born. I work part as a nurse and I'm growing the business. The on line counter part of Salvaged Sensations is Romance and Relics. Today trash to treasure is this redesigned vintage chair that was once sitting curb side. Very worn in it's other life, once I got it home and starting working on it I knew it would be a little accent chair for a porch. A little paint, ribbon, beads and flowers my "art" was coming together. The chair was missing the center of the seat. I had the hat from a previous adventure at the thrift store I think I paid $10.00 for it. I thought the hat belonged there on the chair. I glued it down added a few more flowers and the project was done. The trouble with the things I redesign I WANT THEM for myself once they are done. This chair didn't stay with me it did sell at my shop. I think the customer was pleased. Please visit Diane @http://diane1876.blogspot.com/ she is the host of this fun event. Thank you for stopping.

Blue Monday

This is my first Blue Monday post hosted by Sally @ http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/. I'm enjoying my new blogging experience.Blogging is new to me just one month into it .There's so much to see and do. There isn't enough time in one day to get to all the blogs. The newest group I've joined is Blue Monday and here is my pale blue tea cup. I found this very sweet very romantic cup minus a saucer at my favorite vintage shop. The rose is hand painted and there is such great detialing whats not to love. I think it was only $2.00. If I could spend all day searching for things like this I would. My husband and I are having a new master bedroom built in the spring. Guess what color I plan on designing the room in? Blue. I have many favorite colors this is one of them. I will have this little tea cup in our room. More to enjoy as the weeks go by. Thanks for stopping by.

Many blessings

Marie
