Headboard Shelf

I hope you found your way to my blog via Project Friday hosted by Rosemarie @ Sugarplum Cottage . If you found me by another link thanks for your visit. Today's project is about recycling, upcycling & repurposing. I share with you my shelf. The back of this shelf was once a headboard to a twin size bed. My inspiration for this project came to me from the top of a mantel. My search took a few months. I remained focused and then one day I found it. Gladly paying $20.00 I took my treasure home. My husband helped me with the new piece of pine we added as the shelf. We needed to attach the brackets to the pine and then the pine to the headboard. I painted it country white & added the applique to the center of the headboard. This was a simple project. I think the total price to build this came in just under $50.00. Take a second look at old pieces that may have out lived their original purpose, and upcycle to a functional, decorative new~~old piece. Thank you have a great weekend.

Hi Marie, The piece looks fabulous- I bought a full size headboard and had it placed over the mantel of the fire place. The other part I'm still wondering. They make great benches too. Nice Job! - I like the bling undernealth!

Oops underneath...where on earth did the L come from? Sorry! I think I need some glasses because the R next to the N is starting to look like a M. I hope my day is going to be a good one. I better move on...

Have a Wonderful Day-

Love your project. I will need to start looking at furniture differently now and try to re-purpose. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Marie,

What a creative idea for a headboard. It turned out so lovely! Your dishes are also very beautiful and that chandelier...ooh lahlah. :) I just read your profile and you say you don't know what you want to be when you grow up....I certainly can understand that one. I want to be a antique shopper and creative crafter but how do you make that a job. LOL :)

Hugs & Blessings,

Katherine

Marie, I love this idea, what a lovely way to display all your pretty things.
It's worth the wait to find exactly what you want and 20$ was a great price.
I love the expression, recycling, upcycling and repurposing! GReat job!!! Mary

How nice that I have stumbled on an upcycle post on Earth Day! :-) I even spot some "curbside treasures" (re: trash) that make good upcycling materials...I recently plucked a great old frame that I'm thinking up projects for.
