Altered Hat Stand

The millinery on this vintage hat had seen better days. So, removing the ol' stuff & adding some re-purposed flowers to the top started this project. The stand needed to "pop". I was gathering, collecting odds ~n~ ends waiting until I came across the right "stuff" to make the alterations. I'm wasn't sure if I found all the "stuff" I wanted to use. I didn't know what I wanted but, it all started flowing and I went with it. Some beads on the stick along with some cream colored tulle. The lace and ribbon are vintage along with the satin on the base. I used a crown for a wedding vale on the outer part of the base. The satin ribbon was wide, I cut it in half, ran long hand stitches across the top. Pulled the thread together to form a cirlcle. Making the nest look fluffy. The plum colored bird is a Christmas ornament I thought was just to pretty to pack away. I kept it in my craft room waiting to use it on just the right project. Maybe this is it. You tell me. I will be posting this on Etsy soon. Thank you and have a blessed day.

Tea Cup Light

Today is Friday Flea Market and it's looking rather spring like outside. A great day to do some "fleas". I'm offering this whimsical tea cup and saucer light today, a very fun project and not so hard to make. The base had two holes in it from it's previous life. My husband took it to this guy that rewires old lamps. He suggested a few things here and there but, overall the "base" had good bones. The white button filled one hole and the other hole made is easier to house the wires. So, I guess if the white button didn't fill the hole there would still be a hole there. Or the wires would have shown . I painted the base the same green as in the cup, sort of a sage color. The sweet silicone bulb finishes the look. If you have any further questions please e-mail me. Thank you and have a blessed day. I do accept pay pal.

What Are These?

Beverly is really great at what she does with PINK SATURDAY. So, please be sure and visit her lovely blog here @ How Sweet The Sound . Today I have this very pretty and some what unusual pair of ??. While searching the Internet looking for PINK~~ antiques last month, I came across this pair of lamps, or maybe they were lamps. What ever they are I really love them. Everything about them makes me think Victorian. The ornate detail on the pedestal, the pink globe and the painted flowers all thrills me. Some day while in a great chase for treasure, maybe I can find something that will come close to them. I guess for now I will keep them saved on my computer as if they are part of the crown jewels. I actually look at them at daily. I just find them to be so different and pretty. I hope you enjoy them also. If you have any ideas of what they may be let me know. Thanks. Have a blessed day and happy Spring!!

Vanity Tray

It's been a few weeks since I posted for blue Monday. Not due to the lack of blue, just because I'm doing to many things at once. Does anybody else do that? You know, think you can be in 10 different places at once? I've been looking for a full time job ~~ not much luck, creating things every day for my little spot I rent at Treasure House. I Work two days a week, on call when needed. Wife things, mother things, things & more things. I thought as I got older (46 on
Wednesday older) things became easier. Well enough with the blah, blah, blahs. My blue post today is this vintage dresser/vanity tray. I love the muted blue to a darker blue on the outside. The pink roses compliment the blue. I don't have this displayed anywhere as of yet. It's on hold. I think I will be using it in the soon to be new master bedroom Jim & I will be adding to the remodeling that will be taking place sometime in May. Please be sure and visit Sally @ Smiling Sally for more blue bloggers.

Pink here ~n~ there

I wonder if the Victorians really used this sweet hand painted porcelain pan to brush crumbs into after their meal? Such a lovely addition to a table. Beauty and function. Now, back in the day when I was teaching my kids how to clean up after dinner, they were looking for the fastest way to get done. The thought of using such a thing would have made no sense to them. Brushing the crumbs into that pan? then dump the crumbs in the trash, NO way, the best way was...brush the crumbs from the table to the floor. I guess the Victorian kids figured that out too that's why I have this hanging on my wall, it lost it's function and I get to enjoy it as a piece of art yeah!! I have it displayed with lots of pink, notice the color of my wall. Pink is one of my favorite colors. My second pink of the day is this pretty vase I found at a thrift store/antique store. It's Nippon it has some damage so, I didn't pay very much for it. I added the floral ring to hide the damaged area. It's in the "tea parlor"~~ living room looking proud and PINK. Thank you for your visit. Please stop at Beverly's she makes PINK Saturday fun! Say hi to all the PINK bloggers'.

Little Treasures

I found some cute little treasures this week. The teddie bear planter is stamped with this marking. It says Japan. The pink vase is also stamped Japan ( I deleted that picture by mistake, I will retake it). The blue lid is just a random lid, I guess the bottom broke the thirft store was selling the lid "as is". I thought it was great "as is" the color is so vibrant the cuts in the glass are deep and make a nice pattern. "As is" lid would make a nice piece to add to a vignette of blues. Please e-mail (e-mail button located on left side bar) if you are interested in any of these items of any other on my blog. I am in the process of having a web site made. Hope to have it up and running soon. Thank you. Have a blessed day.

A Little Rose From My Garden

Happy Pink Saturday. I was very pressed for time time week. BIG snow storm on Monday 12 " lots to shovel. Tuesday & Wednesday --work, Thursday well, I spent the day in my car driving back & forth to Atlantic City--not to gamble, airport duty. My daughter & her girlfriend spent a week in Miami & Key West. SPRING BREAK!! I managed to get a few hours in at my shop--added a few more items to my booth. There seemed to be some customers coming in. Maybe because the weather was nice. Thursday was a very busy day, my husband & I had a quick dinner then we had to drive to north Jersey. My son needed his car to be dropped off at his friends house because he was coming into Newark airport 10pm that night from Cancun --he was on SPRING BREAK!!. Everyone had a great time. I was exhausted Thursday night went straight to bed. Friday was also busy my daughters best girlfriend got married. They have been friends since kindergarten!! Liz, the new bride is like my own child. We spent all afternoon and evening at her wedding what a great time we had. We didn't get home until after 11. I tried to do my PINK Saturday post then, I was falling asleep at the computer. So, I have a pretty little pink rose from my garden taken last summer. Two things amaze me with this picture. First, I am NOT a very good gardener--I seem to cause more damage then good. But, I think the roses are coming along fine.!! And , I really am not the best photographer. This picture seems to have turned out PINK SATURDAY worthy so, here it is. Enjoy, remember to visit Beverly here for more PINK.

Tie Dyed Vintage Slips

Inspiration. It seems I've been finding inspiration from all directions. I found this consignment shop that carried tie dyed vintage slips. The artist that consigned the slips is an art teacher (i think that's what the owner said). I really got a kick out of them. So, I needed to try my hands at tie dyed vintage slips. I remember making tie dyed tee shirts as a kid and thinking the shirts were very cool. Making tie dye slips would be just as cool. And they were!! This project was quick & easy. Maybe something to do with teenage girls during, oh, let's say the latest snow storm (seems like that's happening to many states tonight). Teenage girls may think this look is a little trendy. I thought the slips would look cute with a tee shirt, leggings or tights under them and, a pair of "fluffy boots"--you know the brand name type that comes in every color. If this inspires you I would love to see your interpretation. Have fun!
